I had the pleasure of accompanying Grahame Coleman to Chamonix just a week ago to Coach him for 6 days in the Alps… On the third day , Grahame was ready for a mornings rest , and volunteered to film me up the Col de Joux Plane .. A climb I’d always wanted to ride , but never have .. He filmed me with a Go Pro camera which are amazing bits of kit .. We drove to the bottom of the climb, I got out and just rode up it straight from the car .. I had to stop twice and turn around for my bottle top which shot off with the pressure of Coke inside it and I also had to turn around and go back when I was undoing my helmet to get the plastic bag out of it and I knocked my Oakleys off.. Another turn around and rescued them .. I got to the top in 1 .00.42, and had no idea I had done anything amazing .. But on downloading the Strava when home , I realised I had taken the fastest time up the Joux Plane for a 65 year old ever .. Here’s the evidence ,,,, Video to follow .. The best news for me though was that on the last day Grahame did a Threshold PB up the Col de Monter and then held my wheel all the way back to Les Houches as I just piled it on and on .. So a SUPERB finish to a FANTASTIC week .. I’ve had two weeks away with Grahame now and I can honestly say they are the two of the most enjoyable I’ve ever spent on a bike … This week n particular was just spectacular , as the apartment was in such a beautiful place .. Right at the base of Mont Blanc .. AWE INSPIRING
