This is a pic of me breaking Competition Record for 10 miles on the Q10/19 course on the Tonbridge by-pass. BIG confrontation this one, with Sean Yates 10 minutes behind me as the then record holder ... I had trained SO hard for this one with Eddie.
Such torture as 40 laps on Kirkby track with Eddie's motor bike doing "one lap in , one lap out" routines!
I was so focussed for this event, I warmed up with a recce of the course with a 22 ½ minute 10, then my usual warm up and "in the Zone"!
There was just no way anyone but me was going to win on this day , and I put 38 seconds into Sean to take Comp record by 35 seconds in 19' 11" ... The biggest beating of the record ever!
