This was a pic taken at the Good Fiday meet at Herne Hill ... It was a part of my build up that year for the Hour Record and was the Roadmans 10 minute Pursuit.
They had pitted me against the then National 25 mile Champion Martyn Pyne and some of the best track riders of the time for a 6 station Pursuit race over 10 minutes. Eddie and I had worked so hard at Kirkby Stadium doing start after start after start and following the "datum line" as closely as we could ... As Eddie used to say ... PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!
They placed Pyne at half a lap and in the end I had cleared the whole track of riders and beat the 10 minute record as an extra bonus ... I was flying that night!
