THE GIRLS DOMINATE

Article Published : 05/04/05

Great weekend for Carole, Brenda and Wendy.....

Carole Gandy doubles up..... Carole had one of her best and strongest weekends EVER!! It's amazing just how she has improved yet again on last year.. On Saturday Carole rode the ECCA 10 Mile TT... She blitzed the women's prize and only missed beating none other than Martyn Pyne by 14 seconds with a great time under the harsh conditions of 23' 43"... She then rode the San Fairy Ann Hilly 25 hilly on Sunday and improved on last years time by 6 minutes and won the women's event by 11 MINUTES.. Bigger plans yet for 2005 Carole!!

Brenda Pennell does the double too... On Saturday, Brenda rode the Southern Counties Hilly 10 mile TT and produced a fabulous ride to record 25'52" for the very hilly 10 miles and beat Angela Brown by 2'15"... Last year the nearest she got to her in a 10 mile was just 40 seconds... What an improvement! Brenda then joined forces with Dave Thomas on Sunday in the a3crg 2-up 25 and finished 11th overall and fastest mixed team with a super fast 56' 24"... Two great rides...

Wendy Houvenaghel ......JUST AMAZING !! On Saturday Wendy rode the Exeter Wheelers 17 mile Hilly and finished 5th in the men's race... This time beating the very promising Pete Vincent with a 41' 43"... Just 1' 40" down on the winner.... WOW..... Dave is lucky to have the 3 best girls in the country amongst his athletes.... YEESSSSS!!!

Carl Saint one degree under, but still impressive.... After last year's win in the "Circuit of the Dales" much was expected of Carl this year... BUT without wanting to use ANY excuses, which Carl never does.... He did have a cold last week and was pitted against a VERY determined Gethin Butler.... and this year Gethin prevailed with a stunning ride to put Carl down to second place in the Classic of all time trials.... Still a gritty ride on the day Carl... Good on you.....

Rob Blunden does a peach of a ride in the National Buckley Trophy race... On Sunday Rob rode the Martyn Ashfield Classic Junior RR and was away by himself or with others for best part of the race and when it came down to a bunch sprint he still managed an excellent 8th place... Good points to start the series Rob....

Schoolboy Triathlete, turned bike rider and one of Dave's new athletes, Matt Green rode his first real road race on Sunday in the Barcombe RR and finished 1st Junior and 11th overall... SUPERB MATT>>> Just the start for you....

Pete Sadler rides to an ultra rapid 10 after his Girvan exploits... Pete rode the Barrow Cenrtal Wheelers 10 Mile TT on Saturday and did a 20' 55" for a smashing 8th place... Getting ready for the National now Pete....

In the same event Rich Chapman does BIG PB AGAIN !!... Rich rode the same event as Pete and did a great 21' 40" to improve by 1' 38".. More still to come Rich.....

PB's too for..... Mark Tilley, Adrian Pengelly (YET AGAIN), Chris Sproston, Adrian Smith and another good ride by Gareth Rose......

WELL DONE AGAIN GUYS>>>>>>>>
